When can I take chicks out of the bator?

Hello,
I have 4 hatches and one pip (no action since 7:00AM) can I safely take the 4 dry chicks out without effecting the others? By the way there are 4 other eggs with no pips yet today is day 22 in the bator, 2 have been out for 2 days, and two hatched last night. I need some guidance.

Go ahead and take them out if they have been in there that long...just make sure your brooder box is set up for them with the heat lamp and paper towels down, food and water ...you may have to dip their beaks in the water so they will know where its at ..the food you can sprinkle some on the paper towels so they will peck ....Good luck with the rest and have patience!!...

Hello,

I left mine in the bator for about 28 hours to allow all of the eggs to hatch. I ended up taking 7 chicks out of the bator to the brooder, and left the one that had literally just hatched in there to dry off. My understanding is to not open the bator if they have piped until they are all the way out of the egg.

I can tell you that I really did not think my last two would hatch, but they were pipped, so I held out - and it worked!!

Muddlers have just been in there alittle longer than yours were thats why I suggested she go ahead and get those out quickly....Don't open the bator anymore for a day or two...!!

Alright, the 4 that hatched are out and in the brooder, they seem reasonably happy. I actually have 2 pips in the remaining 5 eggs. 2 more chicks would be great!!! I'll give it a day or two and post some pictures.

I had to send an update, I took the four out last night, and both eggs with pips had hatched by 6:00 AM today, so now I have 6!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is cool. Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Especially Tuffoldhen and MissPrissy, the two of you whould colaborate on a hatching manual, I'd pay a couple bucks for one from you guys, even though I was able to get the info free here. I'm already thinking about a big hatch this spring (Shhhh, haven't told the wife yet

)
