Hello everyone,

I have a clutch of babies that hatched out mid August and so now are approximately 6-7 weeks old. Their Mom was a terrible Mom and I had to remove the hatchlings at the beginning of hatching so she wouldn't kill them. So now they are under a light in my garage and they are outgrowing their crate and stinking up the garage. I would like to move them to the coop which is too far away to run electricity, but the nights are getting cold here in Maine, and I'm wondering when they can tolerate that? It's going to be 29 degrees one night this week.

Hey there 222danette!

you mentioned that your chicks are 6-7 weeks old, that is the time you should bring them out of the brooder and move them into the coop. Although it will be a challenge, considering that your chicks are use to the warm and right away will be in cold conditions. I recommend you winterize your chicken coop so you can create livable conditions for your new chicks, If you can you don't have to but I do reecomed you get a chicken heater for your coop. In conclusion your chicks are able to move outside now, good luck!
