With cold weather approaching and my indoor space limited I was wondering when they can leave. They are with mom and dad right now and are 5 weeks old. I was thinking when they are two months. The new homes are waiting. thanks

I noticed that hens' behavior towards her chicks begins to change around 2 months old. Watching my flock, I keep my male with the hens and their chicks. The male never touches the chicks. Not even an aggressive gesture towards them. At about 2 months old the hens would let the chicks get pecked by the male when in the feed pan. When the male was being a little too aggressive then the hen would step in.

In free ranging, peahens stay with their cubs up to 2 months before the new eggs ... next year! ... like in the Nature !
They can be autonomous sooner!

thanks....I was thinking 2 months but could maybe keep a bit longer if the weather let me. They have homes to go to but don't want anyone leaving stressed.
