When can the big girls meet the babies?

I have 2 girls that are approx 5/6 months old living in the garage until I get a coop built. They get out in the yard for a bit daily. I also have 4 chicks in the house under a heat lamp that were 1 week old on Monday. How old do they need to be before they can go to the garage with the big girls? The garage is not heated but they are free to move around out there. I was thinking at about 4 weeks maybe? What do you think?

I would actually try and wait till about 8 weeks. The bigger and longer the better.

5-6 month hens can do major damage to chicks if they want to. I would wait till they are nearly the same size and try to introduce them gradually. It helps to let them live near each other without touching so they can get used to each other over time, also. It's kind of a big deal.

Thanks for the advise. I will wait and let the babies get bigger. I have a wire dog kennel, maybe in a month or so I will put the little ones in it and introduce them to the big girlswith the protection of the cage. Thanks again!
