When can you tell?

I was just wondering at what age you can sex chicks. I have some four week old chicks, and was wondering when I could post pictures here for you guys to tell/guess. Thanks!

For most breeds, it's pretty easy to tell by 6-8 weeks.

It all depends on the breed and sometimes the variety within the breed. Generally around 10 weeks you can tell for sure unless you have silkies.

Thanks! Most of mine are a mix of silkie and cinnamon queen, some might be golden sex link silkie mix and two are barnyard mixes.

At four weeks old you should be able to get a pretty good idea on what genders all but the silkies are. Feel free to post pictures now to when they're 10-12 weeks old.

By now you can probably see the comb turning a dark pink for the cockerels and the development of the wattle.
