I'm new to raising chickens and excited about getting eggs in another month or so. My older chickens are going on 11 weeks. Production Reds, Partidge Rock, and Buff Brahmas. I know that my BB's will probably not start laying for another 10+ weeks cause the mature slower then the other breeds. I'm curious to hear when everyone else's chickens started laying... Any early layers?!

My earliest was 4 months. (Ameracana.) My latest was 6 1/2. (Buff orpington.) I had three start within those time periods. (Two sebrights and one more buff orp.) Like you said, your brahmas will be the lingerers but the production reds and partridge rocks will start soon!

My white leghorn laid her first at 19 weeks. So far she has gifted us 4 small eggs (7 days duration). She gets extra attention from us :).
Others (1 EE and 6 RiRs) are slacking off (0 eggs so far).

my barred rock I got at tsc around the 20the of February just started laying a egg a day..the other four I got at the same time don't seem close yet. I was kinda surprised as I figured the California whites or red sex link would be my first layers of the bunch go figure lol. Either way I'm happy.

My Production Reds and my Partridge Rock combs have started changing color. Not dramatically, just from yellow to a dull shade of pink/red. Still very small and hardly any wattles.... I would have never guessed that raising chickens would be so fun and exciting!

My Isa brown pulleys started laying at 16 weeks not sure if my Sussexs are laying only
Got them yesterday.

Is the comb and wattle change a slow process, or does it happen withing a couple of days?
