I've had 6 boys hatch, the first started practicing around 6 weeks then was fully crowing albeit quietly by 10wks. He sold at 12 wks so it wasn't a issue.
The next batch of 5 started at different times, the first was 4 1/2 wks when he spoke for the first time. The others didn't try until around 7 weeks, by that time they were heading out to crow forest (a block of land a friend owns where she releases roosters).

You can start gently collar training your boys, just study how to fit them properly first and be adamant about adjusting it every couple of days until full grown..
Oh, mine are mix breed so it's just a guideline

Collar training?

Congratulations on your young Ancona. He is very good looking.

When cockerels start crowing is very variable. They are all individuals, like people. Some are more confident, some less confident. Some develop faster than others. Environment also has an impact; crowing attracts the attention of potential predators, and evolution selects against animals that are preyed upon before maturity.

Crow collars have been designed for people who want to keep roosters but don't want or are not allowed to let them crow. A sort of choking device. Cruel in my view.

No, thanks! He can crow whenever he pleases. We live in the country & no restrictions. He is free to be himself!

My one that spoke first, literally sounded like he was saying 'let me out' my 80+ year old friend heard it first. He was so clear, I started saying it back to him. You can teach them to count from 2 wks old.
Mine learn to count to 3 by tapping their food container. Most get it pretty quickly, the ones that don't, seem to lose interest in learning
