I was wondering if not artificially lighted will domestic turkeys stop breeding or do they breed all summer? If they do stop breeding, do the hens continue to lay (like chickens do) or will they stop producing eggs?

We have some Beltsville Small whites that have been laying since Jan. If you let the eggs collect they will get a clutch and then sit, If you keep collecting they will keep laying, Ours quit when it starts getting really hot.

If you feed the hens a high enough protien feed they will keep laying like chicken hens. We have 2 White Holland hens that are in a pen by themselves raising a bunch of poults and eating 28% protein game bird starter and we get 2 eggs every day from them.

here in the PNW they lay till September or so. The heat does have a big thing to do with it here. Once it starts getting hott they stop and start molting and then they start again in the spring.
