I am new to all of this, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
One of my ladies started laying eggs. This is her first experience at this. She had built her nest on the floor of the goose shed, using straw. I was concerned that other geese might step on her eggs, so I moved her nest into the bottom half of a large dog crate placed into the corner of the shed. I'm glad that I hadn't bothered to build her nesters as she promptly built another nest and moved her eggs. I removed the dog crate. She later moved her eggs yet again.
She may have become confused or upset, because she made it to the duck shed (the sheds are now separated by a fence) and laid two eggs in a Muscovy nest. I found her and the Muscovy BOTH sitting on the same clutch, at the same time. I wish I had taken a photo. I left the 2 goose eggs alone. The Muscovy is now sitting on her eggs and two goose eggs. The goose finally started sitting on her own clutch and IF I haven't screwed everything up, her eggs should hatch within the next week. I just hope that the mama duck stays on the 2 goose eggs until they hatch. I will be buying an incubator... LOL
For me, I don't think I'll be messing with their nests. LOL
