when do I separate moma hen and chicks

I had a broody mix breed bantam hen (who has never layed since we had her)we moved into our smaller coop which sits right next to our bigger coop she sat until hatch day and eggs never hatched so I bought 5 4 day old keets and put under her now the keets are 2 1/2 weeks old she still somewhat cares for them and is still very protective but she is always trying to figure out a way to get into the other pen with the other hens the keets are eating and drinking well on their own but hollar for her when she isnt right with them I assume it is way too early to seperate her and move her out back into the other coop but she seems to not have as much interest in the keets as before

One option is to just move her and the keets in with the rest of the birds, switching them all to a grower or all flock feed and providing oyster shell in a separate container for those laying.
That way she'll be happy to be back with the flock and the keets won't make so much noise at the separation.

Thats not an option we have a rooster that has been tryin to get to the keets since he first seen them and we have 2 more bantam hens that are on top of the pecking order im sure within minutes the keets would be goners I just wandered if maybe I just make her suck it up and stay and when would be a good time to seperate her because of the growing keets they get larger faster than chicks when would they be good on their own

I don't know much about keets but, if you go to "Other Backyard Poultry" forum above, they have threads for quineas , quail, peafowl, ducks, geese, etc. The guinea people would be best qualified to advise you. Hope everything turns out well. Welcome to the BYC flock.
