I have 7 muscovy ducks in the brooder. I was wondering when is it safe to take the light off of them at night? They are 18 days old, kept inside, in an old play pen turned brooder. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Well this is the info I received with my duckling order from Holderread Waterfowl Farm

The correct brooding temperature is 90-92o F the first 3 days and 85-90o F for days 4 to7. Thereafter, drop the brooding temperature approximately 5o F per week. Birds must always be able to get away from the heat source to avoid the damaging effects of overheating.

So I am guessing that the room that they are in is plenty warm for them then. Thank you, I will leave the light on at night, but pull them farther away from it. During the day if I leave the light on it is well over 90 degrees, so I have been shutting it off around 9AM and turning it back on about 10 PM when the room gets to about 65-70 degrees. Does this sound about correct, or am I doing this all wrong.

Thanks again.
