I know this might sound stupid but my pure bred Ameraucanas and RIR are 12 weeks old and I was wondering how much longer I have to wait for eggs. I person I got them from said they take longer to start then the commercial breeds. She also said that my RIR had slow feathering genes (fully feathered at 11 weeks), does that affect how long?

Not sure about the RIR, but true pure bred Ameraucana can take longer to start laying, sometimes up to 8-9 months old. Given the declining daylight it might not be until next Jan-Mar.

In the blue Ameraucana thread, some said up to 36-40 weeks!!! Mine is squatting at 24. She's a non hatchery true blue, but not sure how she "grades". Good luck.

You may get a good idea from the RIR thread and whatever color she is Ameraucana thread.
