When do you think I will get eggs ?

Can you tell from looking at my girls when they will start laying? I’ve had them for 18 weeks but the barred rock was bigger then the road island red...by like a week or two when I got them.

Generally, my hens started laying around 5-6 months of age. I'm not sure where you are located but also depending on the time of year hens lay more than others (depends on light). This time of year usually people's chickens slow down in production if you're in the US.

So it could be any day honestly but the daylight hours are working against you currently. I'd expect eggs in the next month or so

Ive had them for 18 weeks. I know the barred rock was already like a week old old when I got them and i think the road island red was just a few days old. So yeah they are 18-19 weeks.

Yeah those breed will likely start laying between 5-6 months or roughly 21-25 weeks old if they are getting plenty of light. And the right foods.

I would start feeding them on layer pellets a soon as you can if you haven't already. But change them slowly from the food they are on now to layer pellets. Layer pellets will help to encourage them to lay and will help to sustain good laying.

My Rhode island red started at 22 weeks and looks a lot like yours . Don't know about the rocks tho. Make sure they have good source of protein that might help them start also.

They also need plenty of calcium.
