so far i havent seen any feather loss from mating from my 5 and 6 month old roos...does this happen as they age and get more "active" or when spurs come in? I have 2 roos and 5 hens. Separate flocks 2 hens to one roo and 3 hens to another...thinking they get more active if they have actual competition with each other?

It just varies from chicken to chicken. Glad it is going so well for you. You may want to trim the spurs when they get longer to keep your hens in good condition. The roos can also slice them open while mating.

They will probably have some feather loss on their backs from mating. One Roo can service several girls.
