When guieneas start to lay

i once told you about harry,being killed, and her eggs being hatched under a chicken. im glade and very happy that they are getting bigger and turning into adult. i cant wait to see harry again.


here we are, we the guinealess's but almost guineas. i really love keets than adult. keets are very tame. they love spending time under trees on shades and dust bath. they are indipendent, their mothers abondoned them weeks ago. but thats okay. i sometimes watch them running at the back of the flock. but then being like" mxm they too old for us, we cant keep up running at the back of the line,lets go somewhere' they brown stripes on the wing is shading and in weeks ill being seing dark grey.

Beautiful birds, LUDWING... I love the fluffy keet stage with the chipmunk stripes still on their heads. Very sweet looking. That is a nice picture. Thank you for posting...

It will be nice to see Harry again once her keets are adults. I'm sure you must still miss her a lot. There are definite favorites of the flock and when they are gone, it leaves a hole that cannot be filled.

We lost another one this past week. I think to a hawk. We are down to 12. I don't mind being down in numbers going into the winter having to keep them inside more, but I just want to maintain enough for breeding in the spring. I would hate to have to start over again as the mama with a whole new flock of mail order keets and go through the training and rearing process. It would be better if the adult guineas took on that role!

I am going to buy an incubator, maybe two just as a back up. My neighbor wants to take the eggs into school for the children to watch their hatching. The keets would get good handling to help socialize them too. That won't be for a while yet, so it give me time to research and look.

No snow yet, but when it comes, I will try to get some pictures of the guineas in it. I'm sure they will be as entertaining as always!
