When/How to mix chicks in separate brooders?

I have 16 chicks, 8 in each container. I have had them for one week and have not mixed the chicks up from one tote to the other. My question is: Should I be mixing them up every time I clean out their bedding so they will all be used to each other?

They look fairly young. At 1-4 weeks it doesn't really make much difference on the interaction because they don't really have a pecking order, or even fully understand the concept yet.

I cut the ends out of 2 totes and duct taped them together to make one big broader box. I think now would be the best time to mix them while they are young.

I would fix a bigger brooder so they can get away from the heat if they need to. The totes look awful small. gmatson has a great idea. cut the end off and make one big one leaving the lamp at one end so they can escape the heat if they need to.
