My oldest peachicks are around 3 months old. They are in a pen with my Marans and a yearling BS Male. They love him and follow him around like puppies, he's very sweet to them too.

I'm debating whether I should let them out some during the day. I let one breed of my chickens and all of guinea's and turkey's out to free range during the day and they always go back in their pen every evening. Would pea's do the same thing? I really love them and don't want to risk anything happening to them by letting them out, but if they would stay around and roost in their pen nightly, I would be ok with it.

What are your thoughts?

Some of my older chicks Im tempted to let out some too, but only when Im outside working and can keep a close eye on them. I'd put them away when I go back inside. As they get older I'll trust them a bit more and give them more time outdoors.

I am a "total" peafowl novice. That said, my two peachicks are 10 weeks old. They go "peafowlling" around my chicken yard....which has no chickens at this time - during the day and spontaneously head back to the house around 5ish ever single day just like clock work. I have had them since they were 4 weeks old. They have only been going out into the yard for 2 weeks. There have never been livestock of any kind, anywhere near where the new chicken coop/yard is....so, I am not terribly worried about blackhead. They LOVE their yard. So...is it the right thing to do?....I don't know, but they are growing like weeds and are'lovin it!
