Hi Everyone!!

I have 8 Barred Rock chicks that are 8 days old. I am wondering when they're allowed to go outside. They'd be supervised, of course, and I would only keep them outside for like 5-10 minutes. I'm thinking that today might be too cold for them.

It's like 60 degrees out and the sun is shining like crazy!! There is a slight breeze though. Any advice is appreciated!!

Chicks this age go out with a mamma hen, but they can always go and warm up with her. There is no point in putting them out at this age in this weather. They won't be warm enough at 8 days old. Give them a couple of weeks to feather out. If you just feel like playing with your chicks out side you can do so, just don't keep them out to long. They are to young to keep warm for long. If it is important to you that they go out and play you could suspend a heating pad or set up a light for them to warm up under. I would just leave them safe and sound in their brooder.
