I'm not a very patient person. I finished my coop today and it's pretty awesome and I'm wanting to get the chicks moved in as soon as possible. They are in a brooder in the garage doing really well. The Gold Stars and Americanas are just over 3 weeks old with a lot of feathers and the Buffs are just over 2 weeks old and feathers have been developing for a few days now but they are still little compared to others.
Is moving chix to coop all about heat? Is a drastic change in temps the problem with moving chicks outside "early"After this weekends cold snap the temps are going to be holding above 50 at night. The brooder is about 80 with everyone looking comfortable. I remember my uncles chix on their farms not being coddled as much as this and doing well. The coop is not heated but I could easily put a heat lamp in there. It's insulated and draft free. It's hard to imagine what the chix are thinking but they must be really bored in the brooder!
Do I just need to be patient here or can I move the girls out?
