I hatched 3 eggs last week in hopes for a barred rock/EE hen. I also have a RIR/BR.

I know the RIR/BR is male. I did vent sex carefully and I saw a pimple bump. He is two weeks old and started growing wattles overnight. So far, he's a real sweetheart. I love him to pieces, but I can't keep a rooster until we fence in our property which will be started next spring.

Stormy is two weeks old today.

Feathering extremely fast! At two weeks old the two older chicks already have pin feathering on the head and on the belly.

When is the best time to rehome? 3-6 months sound good? Or maybe sooner? I'm assuming he's too young at the moment.

Also, am I going to ruin him by handing everyday? I don't know anything about roosters. I handle the hens/pullets daily, so they grow into very friendly hens.

The three I hatched are very attached to me and my kids.

I think this EE/BR might be a boy too. The comb is big and this chick is big too. Here's Willow.

Granted I'm no expert but if they sell day old chicks I don't think it can be too early (as long as they are hatche'd and dried) and I guess it depends on the person who gets him, but id rather a friendly tame roo then on that paicks when they have to be handled! I have a bunch of roo's they ended up with fowl locks so I have to wait for them to get over it then I can find them homes!
