When should I change their food from stat and grow?

I have 8 chickens that are 4 months old next week. When should i start thinking about changing their food from start and grow to laying feed?

I usually do it around 17 weeks, so you could do that now if you want. (Or just wait until you need to buy more feed.)

I have seen 18-20 weeks...when they start laying eggs.

When my older girls were about 4 months I slowly switched over.By mixing the two together mostly grower at first to equal amounts to mostly layer then all layer. Thats what I am planning with the new girls maybe starting earlier with it because the cinnamon queens start laying around 16 weeks,we will see.

And down at the feed store this afternoon, the guy told me to start Layena. Even after I told him my chicks were 7- 5 weeks. I figured the extra calcium might not be the best for them.

I got another bag of starter/grower, which says on the bag it's to be used until 18-20 weeks. Huh. I'm using Purina Start and Grown Sunfresh, fwiw.
