My ducks started laying at around 7 months, but I've had some lay as early as 5 months. I also had a duck that began laying at over a year old! The ducks will decide when they're ready. Until then, just have some comfy nesting boxes they'll feel comfortable laying in.
Thank god I am not quit ready for that yet journey just yet so hopefully I still have time !

My ducks (Indian runners) started laying when they were about 8 months old. They didn't stadt until fall, so they delayed it until day started getting longer in early February.
If they are already almost adults now in the spring, I'm sure they will start before the fall.
I have noticed my ducks started laying almost 3 months earlier than ducks of same breed my friends have. I have them free ranging and buy them better feed, so that makes a big difference as well (at least in February like in my case).
