when should i start my white leghorns on layer feed they are 16 weeks

I was going to ask the same question. My 3 white leghorns are almost 8 weeks old and growing bigger everyday. I also have 3 golden comets of the same age. When do I switch from chick feed to layer pellets? Thanks!

That works. Many say to switch at 18 weeks, which works also. Others say don't switch to layer feed, only grower feed and offer oyster shells separately for calcium as they need it.
It all works. Many roads to the same destination.​

I switched my girls to layena at eigteen weeks (thats what the bag says to do). Three days later I got the first egg from one of the white leghorns

my RIRs laid me their first egg today, @ 20 weks old

No point in giving them something they don't need yet. When you get the first eggs gradually phase in the layer feed until the starter/grower is all gone.
