When should I try to introduce new peafowl to the original pair...

I have a 1.5 year pair of India Blue Peafowl. I hatched out two peachicks recently they are both female. I would like to keep them if possible and just add them in the aviary the original pair is in...now the two young females are 3 months old now. I would like to slowly introduce the two in a dog kennel in the aviary for a while so the original pair can visualize the younger ones and start to get used to them. I doubt it's a good idea to just toss them in the pen right now as pecking order, territorial issues will happen and death can result. I only have the dog kennel idea. The birds are outgrowing their brooder and to be honest I wasn't expecting to hatch any peafowl eggs this year.

So your older peas are '10 hatches and you have '11 hatches you want to add (if i'm understanding correctly)? I did this earlier this year. I had the younger one's in the winter coop and a screen so they could see the run with the older birds. When they were about 4 months old I opened it up and made the coop door smaller so they (the little ones) could always retreat if necessary. They all hit it off by the second day and the little one's sleep in the run with the older ones and haven't been back inside the winter coop yet.

My experience was an easy and good one. Hopefully yours will be as well. From my understanding, as long as your not adding birds to a pen with birds of breeding age in breeding season, you'll be fine.

The best way is to put everyone in a new pen togather for a month or so then move them back to their main pen this is the way we do it. Your older birds already have the old stomping grounds and it's theirs if you move them for a while then put them back it will be like starting over everyone has a chance.

I unfortunately do not have a spare pen available to do that...so I will do what the OP says.

So far it's going well. They eat and drink together. The younger ones go to the kennel though when they are done and the older ones just do their business on the other side of the pen. This seems too simple. Hmmmm... I will be monitoring their outing still until I feel comfortable. I still don't trust the older ones quite yet.
