When to add the roo?

This will be the first time I have added a rooster to my laying flock. I have 6 hens ranging from 2 years to 20 weeks. The rooster I have is fairly young too. (20-24 weeks) Right now I have him in a separate pen. He is a BCM and I have heard they when going through maturity they can be very aggressive and rough with the hens.

Should I wait until he is older to add him to the flock or should I go ahead and add him to my girls now and hope the older hens keep him in line while he grows up?

have they had any contact at all? imo the hens will most likely stand their ground. do any of them free range?

I would suggest trying to add him now while closely monitoring the introduction.
