when to cull?

This is my first round with an incubator. How do you know when to cull eggs to prevent any explosions. Most eggs have been in for 14 days however I added a few for 4-5 days since I only have 2 RIR hens. I have candled several times and I have what appears to be 11 that are doing good but about 6 that I am not sure of.

Sniff, sniff, sniff, and sniff some more. If it is bad enough to explode you should be able to smell it first.

Why would an egg explode?

If an egg doesn't develop or dies after it starts developing it can rot and explode, potentially destroying the entire hatch.
