When to stop the heat?

Always burn bulb in a ventilated space before using in brooder to burn off any yucky toxic stuff. I've been reading about some bulbs having a coating that killed chicks. I don't personally have any extensive experience with lamps.

Do you have any citation for what you've been reading?

PTFE, polytetrafluoroethylene, Teflon coating

I read about it a long time ago so I didn't quite remember the details. Just looked it up. Pretty sure it was this issue. Not sure if it can be burnt off. Just be alert when buying bulbs I suppose
