when to switch to grower feed, layer feed

I have chicks who my oldest are at 8 weeks and we were given some a while ago and they are around three weeks. Everyone is currently on chick feed but I was wondering when I should switch to grower feed. Also, I was told I don't even need to do grower feed, just go to layer at around 20 weeks. Is that ok? I want all organic feed.
If grower is a necessity, when should they go on layer since there is a five week age difference for some.

A lot of people never switch to layer but simply provide oyster shells for their hens. I would try using grower until all the hens are laying, than you can switch to layer.
