Hi everyone! Have any of you ever had an egg hatch super late? If so what was the latest?

First time hatcher here! I'm currently at day 18, was expecting none of my eggs to hatch haha.

I purchased 12 coturnix quail eggs from ebay - seller sent 7 extra ones.
I am using the Janoel12/Magicfly (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XD9GZ1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and had temperature at ~100 degrees and 50-55 humidity for days 1-14 and then upped humidity to 65-70 at end of day 14 (my research notes show 15 days for lockdown but I found some sources that state day 14 is ideal so not sure if that makes a major difference?). I didn't candle any of them as the spots on shell made it too hard to see so only opened incubator to add water every few days.

day 16: 5 eggs hatched in 4 hours. The first one chick hatched is very outgoing and seems to be the leader in the group. I took out the 5 to put in brooder after 12 hours passed since first hatching since I read somewhere that quail chicks don't do as well past 12 hours unlike chicken chicks?

day 17: 1 egg hatched - placed chick in brooder, 1 egg started zipping and stopped - there was all this yellow gunk leaking from egg

day 18: 2 more eggs hatched and placed chicks in brooder. The 1 egg that zipped and leaked gunk on day 17 (I gave it 24 hours to see if it would hatch out) I opened carefully - it had yolk liquid all over the bottom so it looks like that chick had punctured its yolk sac during zipping :(

Should I turn off incubator at day 21 or 22? I plan on having it running for 2-3 more days in case there are any late hatchers.

Once your pay normal hatch with no current external pips or internal chirping. Candle each egg. You can float test them for movement by placing then one at a time in warm water list it settle and watch for movement. Or candle with a flash light looking for indication of a break in the air cell or movement inside the membrane. These eggs are good and should be left to hatch. If you have no movement with either test and no indication of a beak in the air cell you can follow directions for an assisted hatching to better check for viability. Did not turn off the bator until you are confindent all good eggs are hatched and the rest are failures

Chickens usually take 21 is days till they pip (break the shell) then they take another 24 hours to get out so its not much of a big deal I would hate until your 100% sure that no more chicks will hatch. If u wanna check on the progress there are two ways I know if that your can the easiest way is candling when it's so dark out take your phone flash light and hold it up to the large Side of the egg. And look at the egg. If you google a chart online it will be helpful. The other way is but it in water and if it moves that means it’s a live but this method is not as helpful. I hope this was helpful. I know how stressful it is to hatch eggs I am trying to hatch duck eggs from under my duck.
