I'm introducing a new chicken to my flock. The rooster that I got with her has already been accepted but she's taking longer. I am planning on putting her on the roost tonight but I want to wake up when they are waking up so that I can make sure there are no fights. Last time I did this I woke up at 5:30 and they were all still roosting so I don't want to wake up earlier than I have to. When do your chickens usually get up?

If the coop isn't far from your house, you could put a baby monitor in there. You would hear them fussing when they get up and release the beasts before any harm is done.

However, I'm sure that sounds a lot easier than it is

That's a good idea but I don't have a baby monitor and don't live by any stores. I could ask my neighbor maybe.

Update
I got up at 6 am and they were already awake. The new girl wasn't hurt like that last time I did this but she had flown up to the top of the door to the coop. It's 6 feet tall here with no steps or anything so I have no clue how she was able to fly up that high. She was roosting there. I brought her down to see how she was with the others and there were still a few pecks but no attacks like there were the first times they met her. I'm still scared to leave her out in the run unattended so I have a crate inside the run for her where I put her when I go in the house but I make frequent trips out to the run to let her out with the girls supervised. I'm going to try to put her in the coop again tonight and see what happens in the morning.
