So I am "remodeling" a coop that was given to me. The floor was rotten and it needed some new supports. Out comes my handy dandy sledge hammer.... but as rotten as that wood was That floor wanted to stay where it was, so I reach under thinking ill just pull it up.... oopps rusty nail. Oh well its just a nic. Then i decide to jump on it..... ooops exposed screw on ceiling(dont worry it was my shoulder not my head. Finally get the floor removed and go to move everything to burn pile......ooopppps few more nails.
Good thing i had my tetanus booster a few years ago when I raised some orphan squirrels.

Oh and incase you are interested, you can find my remodel progress here.....

Reminds me of, well, myself. I get some sort of cut working every single day. Usually it is my feet though (yes, I go barefoot around here. . .

) I seriously have about three cuts on each foot.

Lately I haven't done anything to my hands though. . .

Nice project, anyway.

I want to say they are good for around 10 years but I could be wrong. On another note the palce where I stabbed my hand yesterday is red and angry, so I guess it wasnt too happy with being stabbed by a nail covered in chicken poo and who knows what else. I cleaned it with soap and water and some rubbing alcohol but guess I didn tget it all.

Almost two weeks ago I tried to cut the skin off of the first joint of my finger while processing some roos. Needed a Doc's help to close it up - they told me tetanus is good for 10 years. I am past my 10 yr mark, but did not get the shot - I have a horrible reaction to the shot - swelling and bruising for up to 4 days after.

I had a relative die of tetanus poisoning. People who have animals/farms would be wise to get the shot if possible. The doctor I last spoke to says that it is thought that to be safe the shot should be given every 5 years (Says that 10 used to be the norm, but to be safe, 5 years), especially if you live or work farm/animals or similar.

I do believe, with one exception, in vaccinations. The only vaccination I get is a tetanus shot every 10 years. I make my now 23 year old daughter get one, as well as my wife. My son gets his courtesy of the Army, along with a bigillion other shots.
