When will broken broody's start laying again?

A couple of weeks ago 2 of our 3 chickens went broody and stopped laying weird thing was most of time they were'nt even sitting on any eggs. We initially just shut the coop door for most of the day to stop them nesting but this did not work, the moment they were back on the coop they went all broody again so i basically put stuff over the coop floor so they had no option other than to roost. This worked no more broodyness, but it has been over a week now and they have not returned to there laying is this normal or should I be worried, we had a duck when I was a child and it died because it got egg bound did not want chickens to go the same way any advice would be much appriciated Thanks

I have read on this site somewhere that the longer they are broody, the longer it will take them to get back to laying. My broken broody whas been 'over herself' for about 2 weeks and is just starting to show interest in laying again. But no eggs from her yet. Not sure about getting egg bound
