When will my dark Brahma lay?

She is 19 weeks and not even the slightest bit red... I just hope she lays before winter!
 
Brahmas can take a bit longer. Don't be surprised if she starts laying at 30-32 weeks old, or even waits for winter to be over.
Ahh!!!! It gets cold here in mid october so she will probably wait for winter to be over! :( Does it affect laying patterns when they lay that late?
 
Not at all. Two of my Brahmas started laying once spring came around and it didn't effect them at all.
 
Cold weather isn't what affects laying as much as daylight does. It's the shorter days that cause them to lay less. When I first started keeping chickens years ago, I was one of those afraid my birds would freeze. I now know how silly I was, but at the time I kept a heat lamp in the roosting area on all night. My birds never slowed down during the winter because they had the constant light. Many people add a light source to their henhouse to keep egg production up during the short daylight months.
