When will my little roo be sweet again?

I have 20 hens and 2 roosters, all raised from eggs. My favorite roo, Clifford, was a cuddly ball of fluff and feathers until he was about 4 months old. He was the first to jump in my lap when I went in the pen. In the 4 months since then he is stand-offish and sometimes even a little aggressive. I know it is typical rooster behavior, but can I expect him to be sweet again in his lifetime? If so, at around what age do they mellow out?🫤 My reaction to him challenging me is to pick him up, scritch his neck and give him kisses. He hates it, but doesn't try to challenge me again for a while.
Thanks!

If he's already showing aggression toward humans at only 4 months old, it's unlikely he'll get better. He'll probably get worse. 1 year old is typically the age they calm down.

Be careful kissing him. I wouldn't want my face neat an aggressive cockerel!

Oh, no, no! He isn't aggressive in that he flies up at me or anything like that. He is only aggressive if the hens are upset about something, which upsets him. Otherwise he just looks at me from a distance. He only challenges me a little. Sometimes he will flap his wings or shake his head, and he has bitten my shoe a couple times. I just miss being able to hold and scratch him. He is also nearly 9 months old now. So right up into puberty. When I pick him up, he is calm, not aggressive at all. Just not overly happy to be held. I am hoping that your estimate of 1 year is good. Then I have something to look forward to.

Mine became ratty from about 6-9 months and the he chilled out! I can scoop him up now. But he's not into me anymore- just his hens. It's like when your own children grow up. Understand their stage of life. Gosh I love my baby Roos right now though! 17 weeks and not averse to cuddles! These ones are the top 2. Picked from an awesome dad.
The third "tolerates me"

They all stop or at least reduce the cuddling when they grow up - the roosters, the hens, the human children. When young, both male and female chickens will often sleep or hang out together in a "cuddle puddle", even when they aren't cold. They spend more time in human laps, too. But as they age, they grow more distant - from each other and from you - both the males and the females - and that's normal. The cuddliest hens may remain tolerant of human touch, not as much as when they were young, but definitely more than the roosters would. And some grown kids have been known to occasionally hug their parents. But it's just not the same.
