i was wondering how long it will be until my 3 new hens will start laying again as they are just settling in in their new home with my 4 other hens

Depends on their age to begin with, normal laying conditions arise when 24 weeks old (dependant upon breed). The other factors are feed and layers pellets normally get them on their way. But if yours are new my thoughts would be feed them up well ( high protein Turkey Growers feed and fresh greens ).

Stress can halt laying if your sure they have laid previous to purchase. There is a new hierarchy to blend into and something as simple as getting a laying spot could be the issue too. But you would find eggs laid out in the run if this was the case.

You don't mention the bonding that's harder to get right. the existing hens would pick on and bully the new comers, so would stress them all out. If you find this the case, you need to change the playing field so they all feel new, how? to do something to all so that they all review their situation. One simple thing is to give them all a bath; or move the coop 180 degrees; change the bedding; sleep them all over one night somewhere differnt - say the shed.. etc. This will make them think never mind pushing out the newbies, what the hell happened to my status quo life style....

hi there my new pullet was off her lay for two months when I first got her! I was really starting to worry! but now she's regular and lays like a champ! it just took her awhile to get used to my home. every bird is different. she will lay soon as she's comfortable! hopefully you won't have to wait as long as I did! I won't worry too much. best wishes
