First of all hello! I am brand new to this group and this is my first post. Any help would be appreciated. Including ideas on if this is the appropriate place to post my ?? on the site .
So, we have three pullets. These are our first chickens and I absolutely love them! I had no idea their personalities could be so varied. They are hilarious!
Anyway. We have an Americauna, a Barred Rock and a Rhode Island Red. Our Rhode Island Red, "Leaf-Stick" (my son named her lol) is 22 weeks old. She is 4 days older than the other girls (Betty White and Jolene) and was first to get her big girl feathers, bright red waddle and comb and has been squatting right along with the other two. I was certain she'd be the first to lay. However, our Americauna and Barred Rock started 10 and 7 days ago and we have yet to get an egg from Leaf-Stick. I should add that when they were in the run I heard a crack sound and came over to see her and Jolene (our BR) eating something that looked an awful lot like egg white. There were no shells or yolk anywhere in sight. (It was a very hot day and she had some diarrhea) I don't think they would eat that. Could she be a late bloomer or eating her own eggs or could the egg have cracked inside and the whites run out? It happened about 5 days ago and she seems perfectly normal. Thanks for any thoughts on this!!
