When will my roosters act like roosters?

Just curious to know. At aproximately what age will roosters start being the alert protectors of the flock? Not too worried about breeding. I just want a hawk alarm.

It should be around maturity, or around 20 weeks of age. It varies depending on the individual, the breed, and other factors. Roosters awesome guards and allow hens to forage peacefully and care-free. My rooster gives out an alarm when he sees our dog (which doesn't chase them) or when he sees a hawk. The chickens know the difference, and the hens will dash for the barn upon the later and practically ignore the dog alarm.
