WHEN will they start laying?

I have 7 runner ducks. 3 females. They were hatched Oct 11, 2010 so they are 5+ months old. They have not started laying yet. I thought that ducks usually lay sooner than chickens. Any idea when they will begin?

What are you feeding them?

They should start at about 5/6 months.

Are you providing oyster shells and/or egg shells for them to eat?

Also on a side note you said 3 of the 7 were females - there are too many males per fermales - a typical ratio is one male to three females to avoid over-mating and fights.

It depends! My runners started a few weeks ago for the first time and they are 11 months old! Just be patient and they'll start eventually - that's what I found anyway

They will lay when they are darn good and ready...well thats what mine are doing. Im still tapping my feet on 1 of mine to lay.
