If you want a pet I would go with a Pekin. Friendly and social! My pekin is kept indoors since she is imprinted to me.

I agree. Pekins make great pets. Other breeds do, too, if you'd like a colorful duck. My other favorites are Welsh Harlequins and Anconas. But Pekins are a solid choice. They're generally pretty calm and not as active as some other breeds.

If you are only going to order and raise a few, most any could be a great pet. My first runners are very friendly. My second set are much more aloof. I raised a welch harlequin with them and she's coming around to the friendly side.
I'd love a pekin (had 2 as a kid), but don't want a loud mouth duck and a male pekin is too big for my girls

I've had excellent luck with metzer farms for small orders.
