where can i get a peacock?

i have done some reading on owning peacocks, but i've never had them before. i would love to get one, they are bautiful! could you get just a male and have a happy peacock? or do they require another for company/companionship? i have 5 chickens, would they take to that flock or no? i am in north carolina, about an hour away from charlotte, does anyone know anywhere i could get a peacock, or a pair? also, if anyone has any tips on owning or breeding them, i would appreciate it!

Do I!!!!!! We moved into our farm last year and there were two peacocks here when we moved in. I started to feed them game bird mainitenance food and come to find out the person who lived here previously never fed them. So they really liked it here. I love my Jackson and I lost Junior, my youngest. He was hit by a truck, but this time of years seems to really stress them out without a mate. I have been contemplating getting a mate for the one male we have left. BUT, if you want a peacock dont get one unless you realize you cannot get rid of it if you hate it. They make a lot of noise during mating season and the neighbors can hear it two miles away. Once they are here, they fly up into trees at night and are very fast runners and flyers. We were going to get rid of them last year, but we just couldn't catch them. If you are still interested I would check Craig's list. Good luck.

We are near Greenville, NC and I just happen to be "sitting on" a few India Blue's. Week old's up to 2 1/2 months - ish.
