I have a polish rooster and he is awesome and funny but we found a polish chickens and we don't know if it's a girl or boy and the rooster keeps attacking it. I think I need to get rid of it but I want to give it to someone that won't kill it. He is an awesome rooster it's just not good for my situation. But if you have any ideas on how to get them along I'm all ears. I just don't want to get rid of him but if I have to I will.

You could put him up for sale.
That's how I got mine. A guy had a few cockerels for sale and when I went to pick one up, he gave it to me for free. He said he only listed them for sale so people wouldn't just come get them for food.

It's hard to tell if this is a 'rooster' problem or an integration problem.
You haven't seemed to reply to any of your other threads asking for help,
but knowing more about your flock would help us help you.

I know what hes worried about. I worry about the same thing. You just dont know where that rooster is going to end up. I personally worry that by advertising in a local paper etc "free to good home" means theres a good chance the rooster could be collected by someone who would harm them. by way of Cock Fighting or even to tran their pitbullsto kill stuff. Maybe even as greyhound bait. Its a cruel cruel world out their with some very cruel people and they look just like us.

I'm currently researching how to kill roosters. I probably wont be able to. I have done it before and I found it extremely distressing to do. I feeel like I have to wear it. I mean, its worse for the rooster right? To me, and this is ONLY my personal opinion, its just too darn dangerous to just give them away to people you dont know, and when you cant see where they are being taken.

We can keep one rooster now. Our new neighbours are cool with it. Im still going to try a night box, see if it works. Hopefully that would keep the neighbours onside longer. But we are incubating chicks and weee may end up with a helluvalotta roosters. I struggled to give one away when I tried once. It will be impossible if I have to give away 12, 18, 24 or more. I am going to have to learn to llive with klling a few roosters. On the upside I supose we can eat them if we can grow them first.

Is there a thread on this subject. You know, methods, the best/easiest age to cull them. Is that the correct term? "Cull". I ask because I can not find very much on the subject.

Here's the thing. Once the chicken leaves your home, it's no longer your bird and you have no say over what happens to it. My feeling is, if a chicken doesn't fit into my flock, I'd rather put it in my freezer than let someone else have it. For one, I put my time, effort and money into raising that bird. Why would I give it to someone else to eat? (Now, if I knew someone who was in need, and my chicken would help fill their belly, of course I would give it to them.) Also, I know that if I process my own chickens, they have lived a good life and it ended swiftly and humanely in just a second or two. Much better than giving them to someone who may not treat them as I do.

@Jayson_Black - To "cull" simply means to remove from the flock. Whether it's by processing, selling or giving them away.
