where did the smilies go?

Through yesterday if I replied to a post, I could choose smilies - as of this morning, there are none - no icon to click on, nothing. Did we run out of smilie ? Or do you have to purchase a Golden Feather membership to get them back. I am lost without them and you need them at times so people know you are just joking and don't take things seriously.

They didn't go away for me. No, you certainly don't need a GFM to use them, they are there for everyone. You might want to go through our troubleshooting article (link in my siggy.) Sorry, I'm not really good at why these things happen only to certain people. Good luck!

It's frustrating for me because my firewall on my work PC blocks them (don't know why) and when I'm at home, my iPad won't display them either. I have been forced to use the since I can't get any of the smileys. I really wish BYC worked better on my iPad. I'm not sure if that's something that BYC has any control over or not?? Flockwatcher do you know?

Drumstick Diva, if you upgraded or renewed your security subscription or possibly some of the settings got changed on your PC, that might explain the sudden loss of your smileys. You might want to go into your Tools/Internet Options and see what level of security you have set. That's about the extent of my knowledge on this.

I'm thrilled to say the smilies have reappeared - so glad to have them back . I don't know the why's and where-fors - just hope they hang around.

I have discovered, much to my surprise and pleasure, that if I switch from IE9 to Firefox on my work PC, I get smileys again! Hurray! Still can't get anything on my iPad but that is another can of worms entirely.
