Yep, I ended up using 2x4s for roost bar. I will get pic up soon. I made a T. Attached one end to far (ha) wall and attached the top of T about 9 inches from door, made slots so I can lift it out. Also put a poop board attached to wall under roost to catch poo, filled with about an inch of stall dry. Have a gravity fed feeder in right corner just inside door, nipple watered in left corner of main people door. (If you are a hobbit) . Last thing to do is attach a small gravity fed oyster shell feeder to the inside of people door. I think it looks pretty good.
Went and picked up my first three chickens. I should of just drove away when I saw the conditions these backyard birds were living in. Did a visual inspection as best I could. Eyes and legs looked clean as well as butts. Unfortunately these girls are almost completely wild. We managed to catch three. Holy Crap! I believe one of them has bumble foot. No toenails on one foot, she seems to walk okay, so far, the knuckles look slightly swollen. I took them because I thought I would be basically rescuing them from this **** pit they were living in. Now I have probably introduced Staff infections into a brand new coop with wild ones that won't let me get near them. Tis is not what I was invisioning in my head for the past two years with planning and learning all of this. Not sure what to do at this point. I don't think I will be able to get near her to do a closer inspection of foot let alone to try and remove the thing and wrap and clean once a day. Ugh, more stress. She was feeding them just cracked corn, you should of seen them when I put organic layer feed in front of them, let alone the avocado and bananas. Every time I go out I bring a small treat, maybe I can convince them I am a bringer of tasty snacks. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond. I have used some of your ideas.
