Where do you get your eggs?

I posted a wanted add on craigslist for fertile eggs. I had two people email me within a day of posting with eggs for sale for $5 a dozen,
I thought that was a great deal, most people ask for quite a bit for eggs out here, so craigslist might be worth a shot!

I listen to a local radio show called swap shop. People call in with all kinds of things for sale, from eggs to houses and everything in between. Ive bought a couple dozen for 2 dollars a dozen. Got some wellsummers yesterday and may get some more.

I buy eggs through auctions on BYC and eBay. Except for the time I bought fertile Trader Joe's eggs and incubated them... (I now have four White Leghorn chicks, 3 pullets and one cockerel.) I am mostly interested in colorful egg laying breeds. I've got 3 laying LF EEs, two laying bantam EEs, a Welsummer, a BR, a Marans, some Olive Eggers, a BA, oh and a bunch of other breeds.

Which is why HHandbasket is able to find nice eggs in my "yard" to steal.

I get mine from local farmers or other chicken fanatics. I simply go on a couple of local websites and put a wanted ad and can usually get my pick of production breeds at 2 or 2.50 per dozen for hatching. Rare breeds? Haven't figured that one out yet....
