Where do you get your unique chicks from

Where do folks get their unique chickens from? Hatcheries don't always carry those breeds, and there are not many breeders listed for my state on the list here at BYC. Do you have them shipped from breeders? Just curious for future flock expansion.

I have two Silver Spangled Hamburgs too--from a hatchery. I tend to see the breeders that have the fun and more interesting breeds. Yet, they sell those eggs by the dozen and I keep only 10 chickens max....so I also try the "backyard breeders" who will raise fertile eggs or chicks from their own interesting variety and sell them in 2-3s. Keep looking for your local breeders. NC must have a few!
