Where is the best place to put a coop?

Im thinkin about putting a new coop in my front yard. I just dont know where to put it. Sunny...shadey...in the grass...under a tree...I just dont know! Any advice?

Where do you live? If it's anything like where I am, I vote to put it in the shade of a lovely big tree!

Agreed. Just make sure they are comfortable if you feel too hot under the sun likely they do too. Also make sure they are safe from predators and on level, higher ground with good drainage.

Make sure it's a safe place. Are you sure you can legally put it in the front yard? I think you could have trouble with loose dogs. You are not asking for trouble with your neighbors are you? Just checking!

A wet coop and run is dangerous. My main consideration is drainage. I want it where water will not run into it and any water that gets in will drain out.

My front yard is mostly protected and you cant see the coop because of the bushes surrounding it.

You know those chickens will smell mighty good to any roaming dog/coyote/raccoon, and they can smell them from a long way away.

Shade for sure and if possible a small sunny side as well. I was worried they would be cool so I went with a mainly sunny spot, bad idea they need shade!!! I would also consider view from your house, I like being able to see them.
