I was unsure where to put this one .
So situation is we have chicks in a coop next to the large hen coop since Sunday. Last night we lost a chick to a raccoon and previous day I realized later that another chick had been prey to a raccoon (this one had to be put down, so two total are gone). The coop has been fortified against predators but raccoons apparently are persistent and chicks are... well, sitting chicks.
This predator will almost certainly come back tonight so I'm debating whether chicks can be added to the other hens (they probably won't make it up the ladder to the coop) or just put them back in the garage for a few days so the raccoon gives up.
Chicks are 8 weeks.
