Was wondering if anyone could recomend a good source to order my baby ducklings from. I was hoping to pick up 4 at TSC, but it looks like they are only getting in Mallards. I really had my heart set on Pekin and Kahki Campbells. McMurrary has a minimum order of 10 or they charge $40 for shipping, so I will probably end up selling some. Maybe....

I have ordered my chickens, so I wanted some input on the ducklings. Thanks.... Is there anyone out there that doesn't require an order of 10????

I've been pretty happy with McMurray. But even better is Holderread, in Oregon. His is the best quality in the world. But he sells only straight run, and only minimum quantities. If you decide to order and then sell the extras, you shouldn't have too much trouble--I've split orders with folks on craigslist before and it went very well.

Good luck! Ducks rock.

I agree that Holderreads ducks are some of the best on the continent (if not in the world), but I don't think they breed Pekins, do they? They do have some really nice pedigreed Khaki Campbells though, and a bunch of rare breeds that you can't find anywhere else.

Their minimum order is 10 ducklings - but it's a bit late in the season to be ordering from them. I had my order in with them last August.

My two Khaki Campbells originally came from McMurray (I got them locally as a cast-off 4-H project, I was told that they were ordered that spring from McMurray), and I'm very pleased with them:

I've seen some hatchery "Khakis" that are very light fawn colored with eyestripes, and I think my two (their names are Juniper & Holly) look like a Khaki Campbell should (a bit sun-faded in this picture though) - and they're egg-laying MACHINES! Beautiful, big white eggs from April to November.

I ordered from ideal poultry, but beware a lot of companies put male chicks in with your order to quote keep the ducklings warm. i ordered six ducks and got 14 chicks too.

I just got my order from Ideal yesterday and I am not thrilled. I was shorted 1 and 3 died yesterday. I also ordered from Cackle and got them yesterday and they look great. I ordered 5 straight run Khaki Campbells and all 5 they sent me were females ) The ducklings from Ideal are rather sluggish and the Cackle ones are very robust. I generally order from McMurray though and like them a lot too.

I don't know how y'all feel about efowl.com, but I ordered from them recently. They came in a heated box, all of them beautiful and healthy, all of them survived and are driving me crazy in the brooder as we speak.

I have 4 more coming from them 4/5 and can't wait.

Edit... no minimum if you're willing to pay a little extra and all mine were sexed.
