Which are your dirtiest birds??

Definitely my white (well BEIGE these days!) silkie pullet - my two white silkie roos have dirty feet but they seem clean enough!

Ugh, my Salmon Favorelle boys are SUPER-dirty looking. Two of them sleep on the floor--I don't know if they're not being allowed upstairs, or if they are lazy? Either way, it makes them dirty and bedraggled looking. And then all of them like to eat while laying down, so that's just more dirtiness. They are so profusely feathered, too, that it just seems like each one is made of many independent feathery layers of mild yuckiness.

They remind me of dirty Newfie dogs. NOT relatively clean Newfie dogs, which I like, but yucky dirty Newfies. --I train working dogs, and a trainer I used to work with would board her two Newfies at our kennel while she was on the road for business. The dogs would get scraggly and foul-smelling and GROSS laying around the kennel. So you would, like, feel kindly and compassionate towards them, but also not really want them to touch you.

Moral of the story: I don't think Salmon Favorelles will be a "keeper" breed for me!!
