I love my Delawares and Australorps, they are the sweetest and friendliest ones I have. I also like the Easter Eggers for the colored eggs.

I used to have barred rocks and rhode island reds. Great layers! You forgot to put SILKIES on your list

Well, if you're getting from a feedstore or hatchery I'd say Ameraucanas can't be on the list

and, umm, Easter Egger and Sebrights are my choice. The rest are either really common, not as pretty as the "real thing" or sour in personality.

If not from hatchery stock, I say Silver Laced Wyandottes and Ameraucanas. Gorgeous birds, and gorgeous eggs. Very good temperaments too.

Id say one of each of your favorites. Then you will have a diverse looking flock with a wide range of egg colors. I like a lot of variety in my flock. No reds for me either. Too common, but good egg layers, tho I have no problem with egg production with my flock. I've got lots of different breeds, colors and sizes and I love it. They are all different and unique.

2 Easter Eggers
2 Delawares
2 Barred Rocks

or

6 Easter Eggers!!! You'll love them! And they'll love you too, but they can be independent. Mine liked to fly up on my shoulder.

The Delawares and Barred Rocks can be more cuddly.
